10 Jun JaNae Martin’s Role in the Association of Legal Administrators

In addition to being our beloved Legal Administrator, JaNae Martin has long been a member of the Association of Legal Administrators, a non-profit professional organization for managers across the country’s legal community.

For the past year, she has played a vital role in serving on the ALA’s Annual Conference Planning Committee planning the 2024 Annual Conference & Expo in Aurora, Colorado. Her time on the committee was spent reviewing and interviewing countless proposals, write-ups, research submissions, and educational materials to ensure that the 2024 Annual Conference was infused with trending legal topics and emerging issues surrounding the business of Law. While attending the conference from May 19-21, she assumed her role as the new Chair of the National Diversity Committee.

JaNae’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) work is exceptional. She often presents on how firms of any size can dedicate themselves to DEIA in every choice from big-picture planning to hiring practices and even supplier choices. In 2023, she was invited to speak in Miami, Indianapolis, New Orleans, and Atlanta just to name a few places. She will present virtually to a group of legal administrators in Boston and Washington D.C. later this year.

JaNae also writes articles for Legal Management Magazine on DEIA subjects. In February, the magazine published her article on supplier diversity programs (linked here), which details how firms can do business with third-party suppliers and vendors that share the firm’s values. JaNae’s work was again published in March 2024 when she co-authored an article on how to set your firm’s DEIA goals with fellow ALA member Khevna Patel (linked here).

We are so proud of JaNae’s involvement in ALA and how she represents Helmers + Associates in all of her work. Can’t wait to see what she does next!
